It is with great honor and humility that we dedicate this law center to the memories of my father-in-law, Raymond P. Kurshan; grandfather, Beryl Gitlin, who immigrated to this country at the turn of the last century; and my father-Martin Gitlin. These honorable men were committed deeply to principles of freedom and justice and were acutely aware of the preciousness of human dignity and achievement and the sanctity of life.

 Inspired by their lives, the law center is guided by the expression of their values: that the inherent dignity and equal and inalienable rights of all members of society are the foundation for freedom, justice and peace in the world.

The law center aims to honor their memory through delivering legal representation, organizing pro bono participation and sponsoring pre-law education for undergraduate students.
